Stewardship Notes from the New Testament

St. Mark on Stewardship

Mark 10:17-30: Do we possess our possessions or do our possessions possess us? Maturing stewards seek to use all of life and life's resources for God's purposes.

The Author of Hebrews on Stewardship

Hebrews 2:9-11: It is "God, for whom and through whom everything exists." This sentence underscores the truth that all things rightfully belong to God as Creator and Redeemer and we have the privilege of managing a portion of that for His purposes.

Hebrews 12:26-29: Investing our earthly possessions in bringing glory to God by spreading the Gospel and serving others will provide a firm foundation that will survive God's shaking of the earth and the heavens.

St. James on Stewardship

James 4:7--5:6: James condemns those who are rich and self-indulging. We like to think that applies to others when, in comparison to most in our world, we are among the rich! Christian stewards seek God's forgiveness for selfish mis-management of life and life's resources, and strive to do His will.

St. Jude on Stewardship

Jude 20-25: "Our heavenly Father has blessed us beyond imagination in our earthly lives." With grateful hearts Christian stewards can't help but serve and obey Him and tell of His wonderful forgiving love to those who don't yet know Him.
