Habitat for Humanity
St. John’s is part of a coalition of four local churches including Episcopal, Lutheran, Catholic, and Unitarian traditions. Each church shares equally toward the per-week build cost and provides food for the workers. Our fund share is largely paid from net receipts of fundraising dinners, the most recent in February 2014.
In 2014, we participated in a two week build at 2144 County Road E, White Bear Lake. Approximately 20 members of our parish family participated along with fellow Coalition members to side, paint, and trim a new home. Rev. Randy performed the closing prayer at the dedication ceremony.
In 2015, our build was during the weeks of July 20 and 27 at a site near Cerenity, a scant several blocks from church. A 'Site Host' category, a non-build role and Habitat version of church greeter, was added, an opportunity for a social person who wants to be involved but not swing a hammer.
