Spiritual Growth Ministries (House Groups)

Almighty and everliving God, ruler of all things in heaven and earth, hear our prayers for this parish family. Strengthen the faithful, arouse the careless, and restore the penitent. Grant us all things necessary for our common life, and bring us all to be of one heart and mind within your holy Church; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

- Book of Common Prayer p. 817. For the Parish

What is a House Group?

A house group consists of 8 to 12 people who meet on a regular basis in various member's homes or in our church home at St. Johns. Typically they meet two or three times a month. Meetings include time for fellowship, bible study, and prayer.

What are the Benefits of a House Group?

Small group ministry is a great tool for helping people who are part of our worshipping community develop deeper relationships and grow in their faith. These small groups can be key ways to maintain the health of the parish as we grow in numbers.

They provide:

  • A place to connect with members of the church in new ways
  • A sense of belonging and sense of community
  • Support to explore the Bible and what it can mean in our daily lives
  • Companionship for people on their spiritual journeys
  • Fun ways to learn what it means to follow Christ in today's busy worl
  • Social activities with church members outside of Church

Relational ministries as a small group fit the following key missions of the church at large (2020 The Vision for Mission Today & Tomorrow):

  • Effective strategy for Evangelism
  • Prayer and Spiritual Development
  • Recruitment and Development of Lay Leadership
  • Strengthens Congregational Life
