Saint

TEC

We had a great time at Great Northern TEC, but don’t take my word for it. Talk to Stephen, Katelynn, or Elizabeth if you would like to know their impressions of the event. The St. Paul TEC is taking place April 19th-21st. The deadline to register is April 13th. St. Paul TEC is open to 10th-12th graders and will open itself to 9th graders if there is extra room.

National

Every four years there is a National Gathering for Episcopal Youth. The Event is being held from July 23-28, 2002 in Laramie, Wyoming. The cost is $325 and the diocese selects 15 youth to represent MN for the event. All applications are due on April 20th, 2002 at which point the diocese will make its selection. If you would like to apply, please get the needed forms from Alison.

Youth

Group

Meeting

Reminder

There will be no Youth Group on Easter Sunday (March 31st). Junior High youth group meets April 7th and 21st at 7pm. Senior High youth group meets on April 14th and April 28th at 6pm. Hope to see you there!

Youth

Ministry

Meeting

As an experiment, we are moving the youth ministry meetings to a time that may make it easier for youth and parents to attend. The next youth ministry meeting will be held on April 7th at 11am. These are the meetings that we recap and discuss programs and services for youth in this parish. Anyone is welcome to attend, especially if you are in the youth group.

I apologize that most of these dates did not make it into the Large Voice or calendar this month. The TEC I went to mid-March caused some of my usual deadlines to change. If you have any questions about the programs or activities, please contact me.

Thanks,

Cantus

Spirituals

Some of you remember the group Cantus from the first event earlier this year. The group is putting on a concert of African American Spirituals on Saturday, April 27th at 7:30pm in St. Louis Park. We will leave from church at 6:30pm. Junior and Senior High youth are invited. The cost for this event is five dollars. Deadline to sign up and turn in ticket money is April 14th.

Update from the Small Voice, April 14, 2002:

The Junior High Diocesan Youth Event has been moved to April 27-28 in Rochester, MN. The theme is "The Game Show!" and there will be an Episcopal Edition of The Weakest Link and Karaoke. The event is open to those in 6-9 Grades and also open to any 10-12 Graders who would like to work at the event. Alison is planning on attending and can provide rides for four. Please talk to Alison as soon as possible if you plan on attending. As a result of the new date for the Diocesan event, the Cantus concert has been cancelled.

Easter

Egg

Coloring

The junior high youth group will be coloring Easter Eggs for out to lunch participants on March 30th from 11am-1pm.  We will even be taking special color and design requests from the out to lunch folk to ensure everyone has a Happy Easter.

Save

the

Dates!!!

The summer mission trip has been planned for August 1st-August 6th. It will be open to those entering 9th grade-college in September. We will be going to Camp Heartland in Willow River, Minnesota to make a trail of hope for the campers. Camp Heartland is a camp for children with HIV/AIDS in the Midwest. We will be helping to clear a trail and build some footbridges for the camp. Camp Heartland is giving us free food and tent lodging in exchange for our work. We will be at Camp from August 1st-5th and then have a day of play on August 6th as a reward. You will receive more information and sign up for the mission trip in the upcoming months.

Game &

Banana

Split

Night

Junior and Senior High youth group members and their parents are invited to a game night on Tuesday, April 16th from 6-8pm. We will be teaching your favorite games from youth group this year to your parents.  Will Kyle remain near undefeated in the paper bag challenge? Will Alison make it past the first round? Can the parents think quickly during Boppity Bop Bop Bop? Who will emerge victorious in Mafia? After the games we will reward all participants with banana splits.
