The Youth Voice, July 1, 2003

Day

at

the

Lake

The Mahoney Family has volunteered to host a Lake Day at their home for junior and senior high youth and their families. Bring your swimsuit and sunscreen to the Mahoney’s, 479 Lake Ave. in Birchwood, on Saturday, July 12th at 2:00pm. Sign up on the youth board in the parish hall if you plan to attend. Permission slips will not be needed for youth attending with their parents. Families whose last names in A-M are asked to bring a salad and families whose name ends in N-Z are asked to bring dessert.

Parent

Meeting

There will be a meeting for Parents of Secondary Youth on Sunday July 27, 2003 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M at the home of Dianne Del Giorno and Stan Kegler. As we are working on putting the program together for the upcoming school year, we would like to take the opportunity to explain our current programs, get some input from you, and let you get to know each other better.

We hope you can join us at this important meeting.  Please let Alison, Deb Schmit, or Dianne Del Giorno know if you are able to attend.

Healing

Service

at

Convention

There will be a service the morning of August 1st at Convention focusing on Healing. Lydia Brown is helping to coordinate youth volunteers interested in being at a healing station to offer prayers. There will be a training the evening of July 28th for all youth planning to volunteer. If interested, please talk to Alison and she will provide Lydia with your contact information.

Convention

Immersion

Event

for Junior

and

Senior High

A two-day General Convention event has been planned for Minnesota youth entering grades 7-12. The event begins at 12pm on Wednesday, July 30th and ends at 8pm on July 31st. We will be sleeping at St. John the Evangelist in St. Paul and ending the event with a BBQ at St. Mark’s Cathedral.

General Convention meets once only every three years and this Immersion will allow youth to experience first hand the inner workings of the Episcopal church. Alison has registration materials and the schedule of events. She will plan to chaperone if we have youth interested in attending. The registration cost is $50.

Recognition

for

Ministry

As a part of honoring our seniors, I would like to thank Rochelle Ware for her commitment to the Acolyte ministry at St. John’s. She has been faithful in a ministry that enhances our liturgy in an important way. Thank-you.
