Maundy

Thursday

Overnight

The Maundy Thursday overnight will be held this year on Thursday, April 17th beginning at 7:00 pm. We will be going to the 7:00 pm traditional service together and then having a short break before the Senior High planned reflection service at 8:30pm. The overnight is highly encouraged for all youth in the Confirmation program and is open to those in 8th grade-12th grade. Please sign up in the parish hall ASAP if you plan to attend.

We will use the Senior High Youth Group meeting on Sunday, April 13th to plan the Maundy Thursday reflection service. The 9th-12th graders will put on the service, but anyone in the parish is encouraged to attend.

Cleaning

Day

The parish is holding a cleaning day on Saturday, April 12th from 9 am - 1 pm. All members of the parish, youth included, are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and pitch in. Many hands make less work and more fun.

Confirmation

The Spring Confirmation service will be held on Sunday, May 11th at the 9 am service here at St. John’s. A separate mailing went out to parents and sponsors of our 10th graders with additional information. After the Maundy Thursday overnight, Alison will be making contact with each youth to find out if s/he would like to be confirmed this May.

The last Confirmation meeting for the 10th graders is Sunday, April 13th at 5:00 pm. We will be having a pizza dinner with Father Jay. This will be a time to get any unresolved questions answered, review some of the things we learned, and enjoy some time together.

Erik

and

Kelly

Update

Our friends, Erik and Kelly, from the Great Northern TEC community are recovering very well from their car accident last month. Erik goes back to the Doctor in a few weeks to find out how the surgery went and to see when he can start getting around without the walker. Kelly’s head scan came back fine and just needs to stick with the neck brace until her neck heals. A special thank-you goes out to the Junior High Youth Group who made get well cards for both of them. They were very touched. Please keep them in your prayers.

“If you see good in people, you radiate a harmonious loving energy which uplifts those who are around you. If you can maintain this habit, this energy will turn into a steady flow of love.”

Mission

Trip

The mission trip details are all ironed out. We will be going to Camp Heartland in Willow River, Minnesota for a second summer. The trip is open to youth in 8th grade - 12th grade and the deadline to sign up and turn in the $30 fee is May 1st. Youth from other parishes are welcome to join us, but they must also register by May 1st.  We will be leaving for Camp the morning of June 11th and returning on June 15th in the evening. We will be preparing the grounds for the campers to use during the summer. Camp Heartland is a camp for children who are impacted by HIV/AIDS.
