of faith. The Episcopal Church Women of St. John’s provide financial assistance
to cover some of the cost for youth from St. John’s interested in
participating. Please see Alison for needed forms.

Teens
Encounter
Christ
It is the time of year for the Spring TEC weekends. TEC is
sponsored by the Episcopal Church, but is open to students in grades 9-12 of
any religious background. The core activity at TEC is discussion. There will be
small group discussions on topics like “Who Am I?” and “Community.” You do not
have to be a talker to enjoy learning from the people in your small group. TEC
is set up to encourage you in your spiritual journey, at whatever stage you may
be in. One of the reasons TEC is encouraged before confirmation is that
encourages religious self-examination.
If you have questions about TEC feel free to talk to
Alison or any of the following youth who have already participated in a
weekend: Kyle, Stephen, Sarah, Megan, Jordan, Katelynn, Elizabeth, Nate,
Gretchen, Stephanie, Emmy, and Rachel. Remember that TEC is NOT a secret, but
is full of some fun surprises.
Application forms are available from Alison. Please keep
in mind that spaces are limited and tend to fill up quickly.

Thought
For
The
Month
"My whole way of thinking
about what a church should be has changed. I used to belong to churches where
everyone was the same. Now I believe in churches that accept everybody, no
matter how 'different' he or she is. Church for me now must be open, inclusive,
small enough so each member of the congregation feels known and counted.
I used to believe I knew exactly
what was and was not a sin. Now I am not so sure I'm the one who ought to be
making that judgment."

White, Ryan White's mom

Lenten
Series
Our
Wednesdays will look a little bit different in Lent as we take time for
self-examination and action. The Lenten series begins on Wednesday, March 12th
and runs until April 9th. We will be using “The Justice Mission”
curriculum designed by Youth Specialties. This video discussion series follows
four teenagers into India as they learn how Christians are called to make a
positive difference in the world.
Lenten
Series Schedule:
The
Lenten Series is open to Junior and Senior High youth and is
strongly
encouraged for those involved in Confirmation.
