A LETTER FROM THE WARDENS

Dear Friends,

We are very pleased to announce that the vestry has hired an interim ministry team, recommended to us by the diocese, to serve at St. John's until a new rector is called. We welcome The Reverend Jay Hanson, who has been ordained for 39 years and has an extensive background in ministry as well as in business and teaching. Jay and his wife have four adult sons and live in Minneapolis, He will be working half time for St. John's. The other half of our interim team will be Steve Lander who will be ordained to the transitional deaconate in June and to the priesthood in December. Steve has worked as a clinical psychologist for nearly twenty years. He and his partner have two pre-teen sons and also live in Minneapolis. Steve, too, will be working half time for St. John's. We feel that this interim team offers us a breadth and depth of experience and interests, which would have been difficult to find in a single individual, and we know that you will welcome them warmly.

As most of you know, Lydia Brown has accepted a full-time position with Christ Church in Woodbury, to begin after her ordination to the priesthood at the end of June. She will stay with us at St. John's until then, and will celebrate her first Eucharist at St. John's on June 23rd. We expect that this timing will enable us to make a smooth transition to our new interim ministry team. A tea is being planned for Sunday, June 23rd, in celebration of Lydia's ordination and of her ministry with us. Please plan to join us after the 10:00 AM service in the parish hall.

Soon it will be time for us to begin the search process for a new rector. The wardens will meet with representatives of the diocese to get information on the process. Please give prayerful consideration to whether you might be called to serve on the search committee. Bear in mind that service on the committee will require a major commitment of time - the last search committee met every Sunday night for nearly a year - but the work of a search committee is especially important to the future of St. John's.

Very truly yours,

Jeanne LeFevre, Senior Warden

Mike Allen, Junior Warden
