The Youth Voice, September 2004

Clean

Up

Day

Help us get the upstairs ready for the new school year. Please dress- down for church on Sunday, September 5th and then join us upstairs at 11 am to clean up the upstairs rooms. We will be ordering pizza for lunch after we are finished working. All youth are welcome to take part. Please sign up on the youth board if you plan to attend. The more youth who can participate, the less time it will take.

Youth

Group

Start

Up

Youth Group is a fun place to connect with the youth community and grow in your faith. Junior High Youth Group is open to youth in grades 6-8 and meets from 7:00-8:00 pm every Wednesday beginning September 8th. Senior High Youth group meets on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month from 6:00-8:00 pm, beginning on September 12th.

Safe

Church

We will be holding an in house Safe Church training on Saturday, September 4th from 9 am - 1 pm. Safe Church training is required for volunteers and staff working with children and youth in the Episcopal Church. It is an abuse prevention program that reminds us all of the responsibility we have to make sure the Church remains a safe place for all of its members. If your parents are interested in volunteering for youth events in the future, do suggest that they contact Alison to register for this training.

Confirmation

Letters have been sent out to youth eligible for first year Confirmation classes and to those beginning their second year of study with their mentor. If you did not receive a letter, but would like more information about our Confirmation programs, please talk to Alison. There will be an informational meeting for first year Confirmation on Wednesday, September 8th at 6:15 pm. Please register with Alison if you plan to attend.

Rally

Day

Registrations for all of the youth programs will take place on Rally Day, September 12th. We ask that you and your parents drop by the youth table and fill out a medical information form that will be kept on file for the year. Special events require a small permission form to participate, but having the medical information on file saves your parents having to rewrite it for each event. I’ll look forward to seeing you all on Rally Sunday!

Thought

for

the

Month

“Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.”
